This is beautiful. I feel like I spend a lot of my life seeking for that ideal permanence or a genuine feeling of "home". (Which admittedly, I have never yet really felt anywhere). So your idea of Intermezzo places and the way you speak of your own experiences really resonated.

I hope the next wild bet you do take will work out as a success for you - no matter where it may be, or when it might happen.

Really thoughtful piece, Patricia, as always. It hit my inbox as I was again listening to the latest episode of The Emerald, a podcast about myth, storytelling and imagination This one is about "Let Us Sing of the Syncretic Gods of Outcasts and Wanderers" (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/let-us-sing-of-the-syncretic-gods-of-outcasts-and-wanderers/id1465445746?i=1000657055340). Not the same as Intermezzo places, but it all relates to place, and home and wandering, and wondering about our place in this world.

A beautiful piece indeed, and I love your concept of interviewing people about place. I look forward to reading more.
