What a beautiful interview. I am, of course, familiar with people like Mica, although I have to say that most older people I’ve met in my country are rather more depressed, less optimistic than she is. At least city folk are like that. But I was really glad to get a glimpse into Mica’s life, and I feel like it’s our responsibility, in a way, as Romanians, to bring these stories to the eyes of the wider international community. No one will do it for us. And there are so few Romanian works available in English.
